The handover is where paperwork goes wrong. You are standing next to a car, the customer is late, and the path of least resistance is to say you will sort the agreement later. Later frequently does not happen.
Fleetiqo collects the signature on the spot. The customer signs on their own phone or yours, the signature is timestamped and bound to the agreement, and the executed document is stored against the rental before the car pulls away.
The practical value is not elegance, it is that the signed agreement exists at all. A dispute over a deposit is a very different conversation when the document is signed, dated and attached to the booking.

What it does not
- Electronic signatures are broadly enforceable in the US and Canada under E-SIGN, UETA and PIPEDA, but enforceability is a legal question about your agreement and your jurisdiction, not a feature we can promise.
- This is signature capture, not a full notarisation or identity-verification service. It records that a signature was made, when, and against what.
- It signs Fleetiqo agreements. It is not a general-purpose e-signature product for unrelated documents.
Common questions
Is a digital signature legally binding?
Electronic signatures are generally recognised in the United States under the E-SIGN Act and UETA, and in Canada under PIPEDA and provincial equivalents. Whether a particular agreement holds up depends on its content and your jurisdiction, so treat this as a mechanism for capturing consent rather than as legal advice.
Can the customer sign on their own phone?
Yes, and that is usually the smoothest version — you are not handing your unlocked device to a stranger at a handover.
What happens if the agreement changes after signing?
The signature is bound to the version that was signed. Editing the template afterwards does not retroactively alter an executed document.
